Conor McGregor has officially ended his bid for the Irish presidency, according to EXTRA.ie. The 36-year-old Dubliner announced his decision in the early hours of Monday morning via a statement shared on X.
McGregor, who had recently declared his intention to run for the office of Uachtaráin na hÉireann, cited 'careful reflection' and discussions with his family as the reasons behind his withdrawal.
Despite stepping back, he expressed pride in his campaign, which he said highlighted flaws in the political system.
'I am a very passionate Gael and take great pride in our country,' he wrote. “While I will not contest this election, my commitment to Ireland does not end here. This is not the end, but the beginning of my political journey.'
